Xena Gurule – 2016 AlumKnights Scholarship Recipient

Xena Gurule, Del NorteWhat was your most memorable experience as a student at Del Norte High School?

As a student the most memorable experience that I had at Del Norte was when I was able to see Del Norte change through construction and become our New Castle. Being the first graduating class from the new building is historical and in 50 more years (when Del Norte will be 100) I will still be a part of the school and it will be a part of me.

What do you intend to study at your college or university, and what do you want to do after you graduate from college?

I intend to study Environmental Science and Studio Art. After college I will hopefully have a job that fits my skill set and I will try to make an impact on the world with those skills.

As a new “AlumKnight,” what advice would you give you to students and staff at DNHS?

The advice I would give is to continue to learn and gain experience from your failures to share the knowledge you received from each experience to someone who needs it, similar to a trading system. Think about it this way, if you only produce eggs and you want to bake a cake, you need trade with someone who has the other ingredients to create what you want. This is also why team work is essential to creation.
