Scott Goff, the Activities Director at DNHS, has initiated a program at Del Norte to encourage graduation according to an article in the Albuquerque Journal. Scott has gathered pledges from DNHS freshmen that they will graduate. The pledge encourages the students to assume responsibility for their own education and includes a promise to:
- Track their academic progress regularly by looking at their official transcripts;
- Find a mentor;
- Choose friends wisely;
- Ask teachers or staff for help if they need it; and
- Help inspire their classmates to succeed.
Historically, the graduation rate at Del Norte has been low (44.8% in 2008) but has climbed to 61.9 % in 2013.
