Del Norte High School Class of ’78 graduate Kim Kerschen has been named in the list of “Everyday Heroes of Albuquerque” by Albuquerque The Magazine. Kim has dedicated her life to helping children – from her early career as a speech-language pathologist in APS to leading the New Mexico PTA. According to Kim, “I saw a difference in kids when they had clothing that fit and they did well.” Her experiences showed her how students’ clothing impacts their confidence and peer interactions, inspiring her to launch Locker #505 Students Clothing Bank, where she serves as the Executive Director.

Locker #505 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing school clothing to K–12 students in need across the Greater Albuquerque Metro area, including Sandoval, Valencia, and Torrance counties. At its student-focused facility, children can try on and select clothing they feel confident in – helping them stay in school and focus on learning. Every student is treated with respect and kindness, ensuring they leave with both the clothes and confidence they need.

Locker 505# is a vital resource in the Albuquerque area. In recognition of her impact, Kim was named New Mexico’s Remarkable Woman of 2023 and also received Albuquerque Mayor Keller’s 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award.
