AlumKnights is pleased to announce its first slate of mini-grants to boost participation in clubs and other school activities that promote a sense of belonging and connection for all Del Norte students – one of the pillars of our Community School. Five $1,000 grants were awarded to Ballet Folklorico, Baseball Team, Bowling Club, Choir Program, and Swim & Dive Team. Five grants of $500 were awarded to Educators Rising (future teachers), Gardening, MESA Club (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement), Space Force JR ROTC, and Del Norte Cheer. Our aim is to increase the number of students involved and/or the quality of their participation and these ten activities are very well aligned with that goal. Information describing the grant program was sent to Del Norte HS clubs, organizations, and sports teams in September 2025. Emphasis was on how the funds could help the club/organization attract more student participation or improve the quality of the experience. The grant review committee paid special attention to how the group welcomes students and creates a sense of belonging.
AlumKnights began in 2012 and has contributed over $20,000 to various DNHS school programs and over $100,000 in college scholarships for DNHS students. Donations come from the annual appeal, restaurant fundraisers, silent auction, memorial gifts, Erickson bowling fundraiser, and Ballet Folklorico performances.
