DNHS alumni Dallas Petersen has been named as the new Del Norte Knights football coach, replacing Bruce Langston. A 2014 Del Norte graduate, Dallas began his coaching career at Del Norte with former coach Bruce Binkley followed by a stint as defensive coordinator at St. Pius. He was Del Norte’s defensive coordinator for the 2023 season, when Del Norte had a 1-9 record and scored just 82 points in 10 games.

Coach Peterson knows he has his work cut out for him: “I think they’re just ready to start fresh, They’re ready to change things, change the culture. It’s been rough, and I’m thankful to have the backing of the administration (who has) faith in me to get things turned around. It’s not an easy job, but it’s one I’m definitely up for. I am from Del Norte, and I know the culture around there, which I think is huge.”

Dallas has been coaching track and field at Del Norte, and he also is the school’s powerlifting coach as Del Norte participates in that new sport for the first time.
