DNHS Teacher Helen Anderson Celebrates 100th Birthday

Retired Del Norte High School Math Teacher Helen Anderson celebrated her 100th Birthday on December 5, 2023. Helen was born in northern Missouri. She graduated from high school in 1941 and attended Missouri Valley College, becoming a teacher. Anderson and her husband moved to North Dakota, the home of her husband, in 1947. Disliking the cold, the couple moved to New Mexico in 1948. Anderson became a math teacher after moving to Albuquerque, teaching at Grant, McKinley and then Cleveland Junior High School. When they moved the ninth grade of Cleveland into Del Norte, she went with it. Anderson retired from Del Norte in 1983. She’s traveled to 103 different countries, was part of the American Association of University Women for several years and really loves milkshakes. Her favorite is chocolate.

Her advice for the younger generations: “Just enjoy each day as it goes. And try it and do the best you can each day and try not to get into too much trouble.”
